Flocculant and Coagulant Testing

Smart wastewater optimization

Flocculants and coagulants are widely used to remove solids and improve clarity of water streams. We able to conduct performance testing of your incumbent product or to independently benchmark new products to make sure you are getting the optimal performance.

A WaterIQ flocculent and coagulant testing can include:

  • Onsite inspection of thickener and associated equipment
  • Analysis of performance data
  • Screening of flocculants and coagulants from different vendors
  • Dose optimization based on your site’s equipment and conditions
  • Stress testing of treatment program over different performance ranges including; particle size, percentage solids, pH, shearing and agitation

    Independent

    • Independent results you can trust
    • No affiliations with specific vendors or products

    Comprehensive

    • Test products from multiple suppliers
    • Stress test different process conditions
    • Dose determination and optimization
    • Water recovery and product cost applications

Can you provide different treatment products such as flocculants and coagulants?

At WaterIQ we pride ourselves on being able to provide expert independent advice, as such we don’t represent any particular chemical supplier. Generally, we recommend that you request a recommended product from a number of different vendors to be screened so that you are starting with the best that each can offer. WaterIQ will then independently compare these to give you trusted results and stress test the treatment program. The last thing you want is to have a product that is only suited to a narrow performance window.

However, we are also able to work with different suppliers to get product samples if that’s required.

Why do we need independant verification?

Most vendors will be willing to test their products to find the best performing, however, when comparing a number of suppliers, its critical to have independent and trustworthy advice on which to make your decisions. After all, once selected you will likely be working with a water treatment supplier for many years. Let’s make sure it’s the right one!

Don't the flocculant and coagulant vendors usually test their products?

Most vendors will be willing to test and recommend their products. However, they will generally offer limited comparison of competitive products. Thus, before taking a big decision to change your treatment program, we highly recommend an independent comparison of the different vendors products to make sure you have the complete picture.

If it’s possible, we also recommend a pilot trial  of a few selected products over a period of 2-3 weeks to make sure that the lab performance translates to the plant.

What is involved in the treatment optimization?

Optimizing your treatment involves starts from your improvement goals and then moves to developing a chemical program and system optimization program. Usually it’s a combination of system changes and chemical treatment that will give you the best performance and we will help you get there. Additionally, we stress-test your treatment program over a range of different processing conditions to make sure that the products you have are going to work not only today, but also tomorrow, next week and next year.
