Thickener waste-water survey

Smart Water Recycle and Recovery

A thickener is the heart of any site’s water reuse and recycling operation and ultimately drives how much water you can save from going down the drain.

Getting the most from your thickener involves not only optimizing the chemical and equipment setup but also working with your operational teams and understanding what drives the operational performance and decisions.

At WaterIQ we offer a complete thickener audit program to help you get your thickener operating at maximum performance.

Features

A Water IQ thickener audit includes:

  • On-site inspection of thickener and associated equipment
  • Analysis of performance data
  • Assessment and improvement plan for the different aspects of your chemical, operational and equipment systems
  • Flocculant and coagulant dose assessment

Benefits

  • Reduce flocculant and coagulant use
  • Improve produced water quality
  • Increase water recovery and recycle
  • Decrease waste costs

Goals

Understanding what YOUR objectives are is critical to creating a program that will deliver. We start with documenting performance history and improvement goals to make an actionable plan.

Inspect

Our team of experts will come to your site and conduct a detailed inspection of all aspects of your solid-liquid separation system including all chemical, operational and mechanical aspects.

Optimize

A complete screening and optimization of the chemical treatment system is then conducted screening a range of flocculants and coagulants to select the correct one followed by in depth dose and sensitivity analysis of the top performing product.

Action

A detailed report with clear and deliverable actions is produced and we work with you in developing a detailed, deliverable action plan and help communicate it to the different stakeholders.

Maintain the gain

As partners in performance, we understand the competing objectives that divide everybody’s time. Thus, we pride a detailed follow up review to help support implementation and overcome barriers that may have blocked progress.

Can you provide different treatment products such as flocculants and coagulants?

At WaterIQ we pride ourselves on being able to provide independent expert advice, thus we don’t represent a particular chemical supplier. Generally, we recommend that you request recommended products from different vendors to so you are starting with the best that each supplier can offer. WaterIQ will then independently compare these to give you trusted results and stress test the treatment program. The last thing you want is to have a product that is only suited to a narrow performance window.

However, we are also able to source products from different suppliers lower if that’s required.

Why would we need independant verification?

Most vendors will be willing to test their products to find the best performing. However, when comparing a number of suppliers, it’s critical to have independent and trustworthy advice on which to make your decisions. After all, once selected you will likely be working with a water treatment supplier for many years. Let’s make sure it’s the right one!

Why do we need a system audit?

Water treatment is not just a chemical process. Many parts come together to help maximize performance including the maintenance of equipment, operational procedures and responses to changes, the treatment chemicals, changes in feed water, make up system, service and supply. By its very nature all these systems have different responsible parties, thus a formalized system audit makes sure that you’re getting the full picture of your plant and helps align the different stakeholders to improve performance.

What is involved in the site inspection?

The site inspection takes a number of steps:

  • Establishing operational goals, known performance gaps and involved team
  • Review of P&ID and operational data
  • Inspection of plant equipment
  • Interviews with maintenance, operations and engineering teams
  • Maintenance review and understanding of historical problems
  • Water sampling and off-site water quality testing including treatment verification
What is involved in the treatment optimization?

Treatment optimization can take a number of forms. Generally, we will start by evaluating your current treatment products vs a number of alternative materials. If these cannot achieve your desired performance level then we will evaluate a number of changes in system operation that maybe possible on your site, such as feed solids content, pH, dose location, treatment protocols.
